Most detailed 3D map of Milky Way created - includes 1.7 billion stars

There are billions of stars in the Milky Way and ESA has managed to accurately map out 1.7 billion of them. This resource is expected to provide researchers and astronomers with vital data on the origins and evolution of the galaxy.
